Aromatherapy Candles

Aromatherapy is a holistic therapy that treats the mind, body and spirit.

How Aromatherapy works and its benefits

People respond to the sense of smell on an emotional level more strongly than any other sense. A single aroma can trigger forgotten memories. The Limbic system is the area of the brain associated with smell and memory. The olfactory nerves are located within the nasal cavity and respond to particular aromas.  This information is sent to the Limbic system which connects with another part of the brain (hypothalamus and pituitary gland) which governs the hormonal systems. These aromas trigger a variety of chemical actions within the body, including the release of specific chemicals that relaxes, calms, stimulates and creates a general feeling of well-being.

Holistic aromatherapy focuses and emphasizes the use of all natural ingredients whenever possible. Most candles are not all natural, even if they are marketed with the word aromatherapy. Burn candles made with synthetic ingredients (or even natural ingredients with toxic compounds), and despite how pleasantly fragrant the air is that you breathe, you will still inhale toxins.

What are Essential Oils?

An essential oil is a liquid that is generally distilled (most frequently by steam or water) from the leaves, stems, flowers, bark, roots, or other elements of a plant. Essential oils, contrary to the use of the word "oil" are not really oily-feeling at all. Most essential oils are clear, but some oils such as patchouli, orange and lemongrass are amber or yellow in color.

Essential oils contain the true essence of the plant it was derived from. Essential oils are highly concentrated and a little goes a long way.

Essential oils are not the same as perfume or fragrance oils. Where essential oils are derived from the true plants, perfume oils are artificially created fragrances or contain artificial substances and do not offer the therapeutic benefits that essential oils offer.

Essential oils can vary greatly in quality and price. Factors that can affect the quality and price of the oil include the rarity of the botanical, the country of origin and growing/climate conditions, quality standards of the distiller, and how much oil is produced by the botanical.

The Parts of Plants That Produce Essential Oil

Some botanicals store their precious essential oil within their leaves or flowers while others may store the beneficial oil within their rinds, seeds or other plant parts.

Not all plants produce enough essential oil to justify the commercial cost of extracting them oil. Additionally, the essential oils produced by some plants have no known therapeutic value or can even be hazardous. As more is discovered about the safety and therapeutic benefits of particular essential oils and as consumer/B2B demand grows for particular essential oils, availability can change.

Synergy Blends

More powerful therapeutic results are often obtained when essential oils are blended together than when used individually. This blending of two or more essential oils results in completely new compounds being formed.

Aesthetic Candles founded in 2011

Our Mission is to create, and sell premium-quality 100% pure soy candles. They are hand poured at our new location in Hudson, Florida. Our candles are created from natural soy candles. We use high quality fragrance oils and pure essential oils. We are careful to us Phthalate-Free fragrances (Hormone-disrupting chemicals). We use cotton wicks. (Burning candles with lead-cored wicks is now known to cause lead poisoning, and there are concerns about zinc-cored wicks as well.)
