Amyris (Sandalwood)

This steam distilled essential oil is commonly referred to as West Indian Sandalwood oil; however, it is not a true replacement for Sandalwood essential oil. The oil is extracted from wood chips of the tree. Its aroma is sweet and smoky. This is sedative, calming and an aid to stress relief.

I have chosen Amyris over Sandalwood, the over harvesting and deforestation have led to a serious decline in wild populations. The plants are in danger of extinction. Amyris essential oil is distilled from the wood of the tropical evergreen Amyris tree found throughout the world.

Cedarwood Orange

Cedarwood  Orange is  an excellent sedative, and has a great soothing and calming effect on the mind, Blended with Sweet Orange this becomes fresh, uplifting citrus/woodsy blend, .Cedarwood oil especially for its aromatic qualities and its well-known use as an insect repellent.

It is mentioned regularly in the bible and it is thought to be one of the first essential oils extracted from nature. The ancient Egyptians made use of it for embalming practices. These days it is extracted from the wood or needles of the cedar wood tree by steam distillation.

Cedarwood oil was also found to be useful against fleas and should be safe to use on dogs.  Be careful to test for a reaction first.  Then you can carefully spray your dog or dip a washcloth into a diluted solution (4-6 drops per ounce of water) and rub onto the dog.  Be careful the dog does not get any solution near the mouth or eyes.

Cedarwood can aid with Sleep and Stress Relief. As well as treating a number of physical complaints, cedarwood essential has natural sedative properties and can be used to combat stress and ease tension. It has a calming effect on the mind and for those with any sort of sleeping problem; it can encourage you to get a decent, uninterrupted night’s sleep.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon, which has the scientific name Cinnamomum zeylanicum, originated in tropical Asia, and was particularly widely used in Sri Lanka and India. Now, the shrub is grown in almost every tropical region of the world.

Cinnamon boosts the activity of the brain and makes it a good brain tonic. It helps to remove nervous tension and memory loss. In general, cinnamon is used as a physical and emotional stimulant. Researchers have found that it reduces drowsiness, irritability, and the pain and number of headaches. In one study, the aroma of cinnamon in the room helped participants to concentrate and perform better.

Cinnamon Leaf or Cinnamon Bark Essential Oils can be used to boost self-esteem and confidence. They are also both often traditionally used to heal laryngitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis and sore throats because it helps to lubricate and strengthen the vocal chords. That’s why cinnamon oil is so good for the throat chakra.

Patchouli

Often associated with the hippies and the 1960s, the fragrance of Patchouli Essential Oil is rich, earthy and grounding.  The nervous system definitely benefits from the aroma therapeutic scent of Patchouli. It helps reduce tension, insomnia and anxiety, while uplifting the mind. Its deep, rich, intoxicating aroma.

Pine Needle

Pine Needle essential oil also include some emotional benefits. It creates an energized feeling and is effective for removing mental stress from any number of sources. It is also used medicinally for removing adrenal fatigue and refreshing your spirits, since it is an excellent mood elevator. Getting regularly massaged with pine essential oil can give you mental clarity, and it removes anxiety and nervous tension. Finally, it has been shown to be quite useful for people suffering from weakened concentration and memory loss..
